Friday Fellowship Reflection – Acts 3:1-16

A Miracle and a Sermon  to explain and bring people to Christ

In Acts 3, we witness both a miracle and a sermon, illustrating how God uses miraculous acts to open hearts for His Word. The miracle draws attention, and the sermon explains its significance, guiding the people to understand God’s plan of salvation.

Verses 1-8:
Peter and John demonstrate their readiness as “twin soldiers for the Lord,” a direct fruit of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Their heightened sensitivity to God’s call is evident—they immediately notice a man asking for alms at the temple entrance. By the power of Christ alone, Peter commands the man to walk, and he is instantly healed. This act, performed entirely through the Spirit and not their own strength, captures the attention of the crowd and draws many to witness the miracle.

Verses 11-16:
Peter and John then address their fellow countrymen, emphasizing the need for Israel to recognize Jesus as Lord and Savior. Peter appeals to the patriarchs, explaining that this miraculous healing is a sign of God’s ongoing plan of redemption. Through the miracle, the people are called to faith and repentance in the name of Jesus.

Our Response:

Are we ready and prepared to be employed by our Lord and Savior? Do we have our spiritual antenna tuned to God’s direction so we can perceive those in need of His healing grace?

Like Peter and John, we are called to be attentive, sensitive, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to serve and minister to others.
