After the healing of the crippled man, Apostles Peter and John worked as a united team of evangelists, addressing the gathered Jewish congregants in the temple. Their sermon relied on historical references and the Truth-Claims of God’s promises, guiding the crowd to recognize God’s intended plan for humanity.
Peter then taught the remedy: belief in Jesus Christ as the promised Messiah. He emphasized that Jesus is the seed through whom God promised Abraham that all nations of the earth would be blessed. Through Him, the people could experience times of spiritual refreshment, receive forgiveness of sins, and be transformed by God’s presence.
Verses 4:1-12:
As Peter and John preached, the priests and Sadducees became angered by their teaching of the Resurrection and the growing influence of the Gospel. They arrested Peter and John and brought them before a committee of religious leaders—the same who had opposed Christ.
Yet, with courage and unwavering faith, Peter and John boldly proclaimed Christ to their persecutors. In Acts 4:12, Peter delivers a stunning declaration: salvation is found exclusively in Jesus Christ. Just as the name of Jesus was the only hope for the physical healing of the crippled man, so also it is the only hope for spiritual healing for all mankind.
