God, in His sovereignty, inspired Luke to write the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts, providing us with an organized and cohesive account of the development of the early Christian church.
During the 40 days between Jesus’ resurrection and His ascension, He appeared to His followers and taught them “about the Kingdom of God.” At the same time, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem until they received the gift His Father had promised: baptism with the Holy Spirit.
Acts 1:8 reminds us:
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Here, Jesus explains that the Kingdom He speaks of is not an earthly one. Instead, His followers are given spiritual power through the Holy Spirit to spread the good news of the Gospel to the world.
As believers, we are called to earnestly seek the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. This means dedicating time and effort to draw closer to God, allowing the Holy Spirit to help us remove distractions and focus on what truly matters. By organizing our days with intention, we can live in alignment with God’s will and grow continually in our relationship with our Lord and Savior.
